Jackson Koivun, a 21-year-old golfer who turned professional just 24 days ago, secured his first PGA Tour victory at the 3M Open held at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota, on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
Koivun's decisive performance included a record-setting third round where he posted a 10-under 61, moving to 20-under for the tournament. His back-nine score of 28 set a new tournament record for those holes. In the final round, Koivun shot 5-under to finish at 25-under overall.
Despite Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1 golfer, shooting an impressive 8-under in the final round, he finished three strokes behind Koivun. The crowd was vocal during the competition, frequently chanting, “Scottie’s coming, Scottie’s coming,” as Scheffler mounted a late charge.
Koivun expressed his passion for the sport, saying, “I just love this game. I love golf, it’s everything I do. I have a tough time getting away from it,” and added, “I just tried to tone that out and keep playing the golf I knew I could.”
Having turned pro earlier in July, Koivun earned a $1.584 million prize from his victory, which he hopes will be the first of many on the PGA Tour.
