Israeli forces carried out attacks in southern Lebanon on Friday, targeting the town of al-Mansouri and the nearby village of Majdal Zoun, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency. The explosion in Majdal Zoun was reportedly heard as far as the city of Tyre, over 15 kilometers away.

These strikes occurred despite a ceasefire agreement and ongoing talks between Israel and Lebanese officials aimed at implementing a peace framework. The attacks and demolitions have become a frequent occurrence in southern Lebanon.

Israel currently occupies nearly one-fifth of Lebanese territory and has killed more than 4,000 people since fighting began on March 2. Israel maintains that its operations are intended to prevent the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah from launching attacks into northern Israel.

US President Donald Trump, who met with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun earlier this week at the White House, pledged assistance to Lebanon. When asked about a timeline for Israel’s withdrawal, Trump stated, “They’re in the process of doing that.”

Lebanon’s president has expressed the country’s goal to end hostilities with Israel permanently. Meanwhile, Trump’s push for Syrian intervention against Hezbollah has been described as “short-sighted.”
