Armour referenced incidents including Clark receiving a black eye during the 2024 playoffs after contact with DiJonai Carrington, noting both players said the contact was unintentional. Armour called on Clark to "call out the toxic segment of her fan base." In a separate column, Armour accused the conservative Heritage Foundation of "coming for" Title IX, the 1972 federal civil rights law that bars sex-based discrimination in federally funded education programs. Armour cited a recent Heritage Foundation report titled "Title IX’s Failed Experiment: Why Accommodating Sex Differences Beats Engineered Parity," authored by Scott Yenor, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation's American Citizenship Initiative. The report criticizes the modern application of Title IX, particularly its proportionality mandates in school sports, arguing that stricter interpretations have enforced rigid equality to the detriment of both male and female student athletes.

The report states that Title IX has evolved into "a powerful engine of feminist social engineering, complete with proportionality mandates," resulting in "two systemic distortions: a prejudice in favor of a male-normed competitive model for women’s sports and a prejudice against men’s non-revenue programs." Yenor advocates for reforms focusing less on proportionality in male-dominated sports and more on opportunities for female-centric athletics such as cheerleading, gymnastics, and volleyball.

Armour’s columns have sparked controversy amid ongoing debates about women’s sports, athlete conduct, and the future of Title IX enforcement.
