TAIPEITaiwan is accelerating its development of the robotics industry to bolster its artificial intelligence (AI) technology supply chain and help mitigate the challenges posed by an aging population, according to Wu Cheng-wen, the island democracy’s top technology official.

Wu highlighted that Taiwan’s robotics strategy is intentionally distinct from China’s, which he described as having a military-oriented approach. Instead, Taiwan is focusing on civilian applications that support societal needs.

An example of Taiwan’s robotics progress was showcased at Foxconn’s annual tech day in Taipei in November 2025, where an industrial humanoid robot was displayed, underscoring the country’s commitment to advanced robotics innovation.

This initiative reflects Taiwan’s broader goal to leverage technology for economic growth and social welfare, positioning itself uniquely within the Asia region’s competitive tech landscape.
