Democratic Rep. Greg Stanton has successfully defended his seat in Arizona’s 4th Congressional District by defeating progressive organizer Kai Newkirk in the Democratic primary held on Tuesday, July 22, 2026.

According to Decision Desk HQ, Stanton was projected to fend off the challenge from his left. Newkirk criticized Stanton for accepting corporate donations and for his vote in support of the Laken legislation. Despite these attacks, Stanton won the primary by a comfortable margin.

Stanton’s victory secures his position as the Democratic nominee for the upcoming general election in the district.
