Andrew Truelove, 41, was arrested last week by New York City police after allegedly entering an unauthorized vestibule near Studio 1A at NBC's Rockefeller Center in Manhattan and confronting "Today" co-host Craig Melvin with racial slurs.

Court records reveal Truelove's criminal record spans at least two decades, including charges of attempted kidnapping and trespassing. Surveillance footage from the day of the incident shows a man resembling Truelove present near the studio as early as 8:03 a.m., who removed a backpack and placed it behind a bush outside the building at 8:05 a.m. He remained visible multiple times until 8:34 a.m., coinciding with actress Anne Hathaway's appearance on set to discuss her role in the latest adaptation of "The Odyssey."

According to the NYPD, Truelove was arrested at 8:57 a.m. after allegedly confronting Melvin in a private area of the building not open to the public. A psychiatrist testified that Truelove exhibited symptoms of bipolar disorder and had stopped taking medications after gaining more than 100 pounds prior to the incident.

A 2023 Los Angeles Times profile detailed Truelove's travels through the Sonoran Desert region and his struggles with homelessness on the West Coast following probation in Virginia.
