Darline Graham spoke about her close relationship with her brother, recalling how he cared for her after both of their parents passed away when they were young. She emphasized her dedication to public service, saying, "I've worked for almost 30 years for the people of this state," and acknowledged the support of her family and her brother’s staff.

Reflecting on the challenge ahead, she said, "I feel an inner peace about it. Will it be difficult? Yes, absolutely."

Lindsey Graham died unexpectedly on July 11, 2026, at the age of 71. Supporters have noted that there would be "nobody better to honor the legacy of her beloved brother, Lindsey."
