Zaccharie Risacher, selected first overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, has been traded by the Atlanta Hawks to the Dallas Mavericks after just two seasons. The 21-year-old's move marks a rare instance of a top draft pick being dealt for basketball-related reasons so early in his career.

Risacher appeared in 142 career games with Atlanta, averaging 12.6 points as a rookie before his scoring dropped to 9.6 points in his second season. His early departure places him among a small group of high draft picks traded quickly, including Markelle Fultz and Pervis Ellison.

The trade, announced on Sunday, will not be official until the NBA completes its investigation into the Hawks' salary cap accusations. Atlanta's gamble on Risacher is considered underwhelming, prompting the franchise to move on.
