The U.S. Army has identified two active-duty soldiers who were killed during an enemy attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan on Friday, July 17, 2026. Among the fallen is 19-year-old Isabella Gonzales from Carrollton, Texas. These deaths represent the first U.S. military fatalities since hostilities resumed amid Iran's violations of a peace agreement brokered under former President Donald Trump.

Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed a ninth consecutive night of strikes against Iranian military targets following the attack. CENTCOM also stated it will continue efforts to dismantle ISIS networks and prevent the terror group's resurgence.

President Trump has vowed to maintain pressure on Iran to degrade its military capabilities and enforce naval blockades in the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized the sacrifices made by U.S. service members, saying, "We hit them very hard again tonight, and we did that in honor of the probably three – it's probably three as opposed to two great patriots." Another U.S. service member was killed in northern Iraq during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance, and a third service member's remains are currently being identified.
