The U.S. War Department has identified two active-duty Army soldiers who were killed during an enemy attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan on Friday, July 17, 2026. Among the fallen is 19-year-old Isabella Gonzales from Carrollton, Texas. These deaths represent the first U.S. service member fatalities since the resumption of hostilities following Iran's violations of the peace agreement brokered under President Donald Trump.

President Trump has vowed to continue exerting pressure on Iran to degrade its military capabilities and enforce naval blockades in the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that Iran "will pay 'many times over'" for its actions.

Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed a ninth consecutive night of strikes against Iranian military targets and emphasized its ongoing efforts to dismantle ISIS networks and prevent the terror group's resurgence.

Additionally, a third U.S. service member's remains are being identified, and another service member was killed in northern Iraq during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance.
