The United States military launched new air strikes on Iran early Sunday, July 19th, 2026, marking the eighth consecutive night of attacks. The strikes targeted areas near Sirik in Iran’s Hormozgan province and Qeshm Island, according to Iran’s semi-official Mehr and Tasnim news agencies. The US Central Command stated the operations aim to degrade Iran's ability to obstruct the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The US military announced the strikes were to "swiftly punish" Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) following an Iranian attack in Jordan that killed two American service members, left one missing, and hospitalized four others.

Iranian reports indicated the attacks hit Sirik at 1:30 am local time (22:00 GMT, Saturday), Qeshm Island at approximately 3:38 am and again at 6:10 am local time. Tasnim news agency also reported a US strike near Shadegan in Iran’s Khuzestan province at 5:55 am local time (02:25 GMT).

In retaliation, Iran’s military stated it targeted a US ammunition depot at Al-Adiri camp and Patriot radar and air radar systems at the Ali Al Salem base in Kuwait. State-run IRNA reported the destruction of the Bonji desalination plant, cutting off water supplies to about 10,000 people, and damage to a desalination plant on Qeshm Island.

These developments come amid heightened tensions and a reimposed US naval blockade on Iran’s ports.
