Disaster preparation traditionally involved basic supplies like bottled water, flashlights, and generators. However, French startup Momentum Technologies is elevating emergency readiness with its LifePods survival capsules.

According to Momentum's website, these capsules are engineered to safeguard individuals, families, response teams, and critical infrastructure during natural disasters, industrial risks, and security threats. The LifePods transform preparedness from abstract concern into a tangible, movable product that can be positioned before a setback occurs.

The company is developing several models, including the Q-01, designed specifically to provide structural protection during earthquakes. European retail prices before VAT are listed at 25,000 euros for the B-01 model and 31,000 euros for the W-01. The W-01 certification program will assess flotation performance, structural integrity, stability, impact resistance, self-righting capability, and other safety features tailored for survival equipment used in major natural disasters.

Physical validation of the capsules is expected to begin in the second half of 2026. LifePods start at approximately $27,000 before shipping costs.
