Across Palestine, the cumulative impact of Israeli actions since October 7, 2023, has significantly eroded Palestinians' ability to live dignified and healthy lives. Israeli policies in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank reflect a broader project of colonisation through occupation, resulting in profound violence and hardship.

It has been over 1,000 days since the onset of what is described as Israel's genocide in Gaza, with collective punishment of Palestinians ongoing. Despite a so-called ceasefire, Palestinians continue to be maimed and killed daily in their tents, hospitals, and streets. June 2026 marked the deadliest month since the ceasefire began in October 2025.

As of July 18, 2026, Israel has killed 1,144 Palestinians and injured 3,703 since the truce was announced, contributing to a total death toll exceeding 73,200 since the start of the war. The West Bank has also experienced a violent transformation, with accelerated ethnic cleansing, land theft, dispossession, territorial fragmentation, and economic strangulation by the Israeli government, military, and state-sponsored settlers.

On October 26, 2024, during a raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, Dr. Mohammed Obeid, a surgeon affiliated with Doctors Without Borders (MSF), was arrested along with 57 others.

These developments underscore the devastating consequences of the ongoing Israeli occupation on Palestinian health and societal stability.
