Central African Prime Minister Félix Moloua visited Birao, in the northeast of the Central African Republic (CAR), on Saturday, July 19, 2026, to reassure the local population after a deadly attack on June 30 in the border town of Am Dafock.

The June 30 assault resulted in the deaths of members of the military, security forces, and civilians, although official casualty figures have not been confirmed. Am Dafock, located approximately 65 kilometers from Birao, is frequently targeted by armed groups.

During his visit, Moloua inaugurated a health center and reiterated the government's commitment to ongoing development efforts in the Vakaga region, which faces regular incursions by armed groups operating across the border with Sudan.

The area has been destabilized by the conflict in neighboring Sudan since 2023, involving clashes between the regular army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). In response, the Prime Minister issued a firm warning to armed groups, urging them to join the disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration (DDR) program. He declared that “the fun is over” and called on them to “turn the page” in favor of peace and social cohesion.
