Batarti Gabbard, 55, the older brother of former Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, was charged with second-degree custodial interference following an incident on Sunday, July 12, 2026. According to Honolulu police, the event took place around 2 p.m. at the pool area of an unnamed Waikīkī hotel in Hawaii.
Police allege that Batarti Gabbard approached several children, including a 9-year-old boy, asked for their names, recorded them in a notebook, and offered money and gum if they would accompany him to his hotel room. The children refused, and Gabbard subsequently walked away.
Gabbard's family has stated that he is continuing to receive psychiatric treatment. His father, Hawaii state Senator, commented, "We love him, and asked him to follow the protocol at the hospital, which he says he will do. We're praying for his speedy recovery, and would appreciate the prayers of others."
Additionally, according to KITV, Batarti Gabbard was arrested on July 16, 2026, on charges of theft.
Separately, Marc Siegel joined 'America Reports' following outgoing DNI Tulsi Gabbard's release of documents raising questions about Dr. Anthony Fauci's role in funding COVID-19 origins experiments in Wuhan, China.
