Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan, both dual US-UK nationals and social media influencers, were arrested on Saturday evening, July 19, 2026, in Miami, Florida. The United States Marshals Service confirmed their arrest on a sealed warrant and stated that the United Kingdom government is seeking their extradition on charges of rape and sex trafficking.

The UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced new charges against the Tate brothers, including seven counts of rape for Andrew Tate, along with charges related to sex trafficking, assault, indecent images of a child, and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate faces one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.

These new charges increase the total number of alleged victims to seven, with the alleged offenses said to have occurred between July 2010 and August 2017. The CPS's Special Crime Division head, Malcolm McHaffie, stated that these charging decisions followed the receipt of additional evidence from Bedfordshire Police.

Earlier in 2026, police in Hertfordshire, north of London, reopened investigations into rape and sexual assault allegations against Andrew Tate dating from 2014 to 2015. The brothers were already facing prosecution in the UK for 21 charges related to rape, human trafficking, and actual bodily harm involving three victims.

In 2025, reports indicated that a White House official intervened to protect the brothers after US Customs and Border Protection officials seized their electronic devices.

A lawyer representing the Tates, Joseph McBride, issued a statement after their arrest asserting that "the world knows Andrew and Tristan are innocent."

Video footage shared by US media showed law enforcement officers handcuffing the brothers and escorting them into vehicles. When asked by an onlooker if he had anything to say, Tristan Tate did not respond.

The US Department of Justice confirmed the arrests were "pursuant to extradition proceedings."
