Rep. Ralph Norman, a Republican from South Carolina, announced on Saturday, July 18, 2026, that he will run in the special primary election to replace the late GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham. Norman’s announcement comes just one day after former President Donald Trump endorsed Graham’s sister, who was appointed to serve out the remainder of the late senator’s term by GOP Gov. Henry McMaster earlier this week.

Norman told Fox News, “We’ll nuke the filibuster, and I will be a vocal, a vocal vote and a supporter to make this happen,” emphasizing his focus on passing President Trump’s America First agenda, starting with the SAVE America Act.

The special primary election is scheduled for August, with candidates required to file by July 21. Earlier this week, another candidate, Lynch, said he planned to reactivate his Senate campaign and run in the special primary as well.

Senator Lindsey Graham died suddenly last weekend, prompting the appointment of his sister to the Senate seat and triggering the upcoming special election.
