Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., declared his candidacy for the South Carolina Senate seat on Saturday, July 18, 2026, following the death of Senator Lindsey Graham. Norman made the announcement during an appearance on "Saturday In America with Kayleigh McEnany," stating, "I'm here to announce that I will be a candidate for the Senate, I'll be throwing my hat into the ring, and day one, Kayleigh, I will be laser-focused on passing President Trump's America First."

Norman emphasized his commitment to President Donald Trump's America First agenda, including championing the SAVE America Act. He also pledged to prioritize eliminating the Senate filibuster, saying Republicans need to "nuke" the procedure.

This announcement comes just days after former President Trump publicly endorsed Darline Graham, Lindsey Graham's sister, who was appointed to complete the remainder of his term. Trump expressed support for Darline Graham on Truth Social, stating, "I hope Darline does this, in ⁠that there would be nobody better to honor ​the legacy of her beloved brother, Lindsey," and added, "Run Darline Run."

Norman acknowledged Trump's endorsement during his interview with McEnany, saying he had asked for Trump's blessing despite moving forward with his own campaign.

The race for the South Carolina Senate seat is now set to be contested between Norman, Darline Graham, and potentially other candidates as the state prepares for the upcoming election.
