Paul Pelosi, husband of Democratic Representative Nancy Pelosi, was charged on Friday, July 17, 2026, with a misdemeanor hit-and-run related to a car crash that occurred on July 3 in Northern California.

According to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office, Pelosi, 86, allegedly struck an unoccupied parked vehicle and left the scene without providing information. He faces one misdemeanor charge carrying a maximum penalty of a $1,000 fine, six months in county jail, or both.

The Napa County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident did not appear to involve alcohol, and Pelosi was not arrested following the crash. Police found him near the crash site in his car, which had sustained significant damage consistent with the collision.

A spokesperson for the Pelosi family told NBC News the day after the crash that Pelosi had personally apologized to the owner of the damaged vehicle and assured them he would take responsibility for the repairs. The spokesperson also stated that the former House Speaker would not comment further on the matter.

Pelosi was previously involved in a separate car crash in the same area in 2022, for which he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and was sentenced to five days in jail. He was also the victim of a physical attack at his home in 2022.
