Iran’s supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, issued a stern warning to the United States on Saturday, July 18th, 2026, stating that the US will face “unforgettable lessons” from Tehran and its regional allies due to repeated violations of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed last month.

A written statement attributed to Khamenei was broadcast on Iranian state television, condemning Washington’s breaches and declaring that President Donald Trump’s signature on the agreement was “utterly worthless and invalid.” The statement described bullying, hegemonism, and savagery as integral to American policy, referring to the US as the “Great Satan.”

Khamenei further accused the US of exposing its “true face,” characterized by deceitfulness, irrationality, unreliability, and wickedness. He added that as the US seeks to escalate conflict and endure greater costs and humiliation, Iran and its allies are prepared to deliver lasting consequences.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions, including a seventh consecutive night of US strikes that have cut water supplies to villages in southern Iran and the reimposition of a naval blockade on Iranian ports. Both Tehran and Washington have since declared the MoU effectively “over,” each accusing the other of violations.
