Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei on Saturday, July 18th, 2026, condemned the United States for repeatedly breaching its ceasefire agreement with Tehran. He described President Trump’s signature on the memorandum of understanding as “utterly worthless and devoid of credibility.”

In statements shared on the social platform X, Khamenei asserted that renewed U.S. strikes serve as “yet another indisputable testament to the US’s dishonesty, irrationality, unreliability, and malicious nature,” and warned of further Iranian retaliation. He added, “Now that the American enemy is seeking to escalate the conflict thereby incurring even heavier costs and further humiliation, it should know that the noble nation of Iran and the Resistance Front have unforgettable lessons in store for it.”

Khamenei has not appeared publicly since succeeding his father, the slain Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, early in the conflict. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reported in March that Khamenei was “wounded and likely disfigured” from an incident in February.

Following the U.S. launching its seventh consecutive night of strikes, one of the Ayatollah’s senior advisers threatened to resume “full-scale offensive operations” against U.S. forces and allies in the Middle East. Major-General Mohsen Rezaei declared that “no political border will be safe” unless U.S. military operations cease.

Central Command (Centcom) stated late Friday night that American forces targeted “surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage, and maritime capabilities,” and that a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz was again fully enforced.

Iranian diplomat Gharibabadi, cited by Iran International, accused the U.S. of having “effectively trampled all of its commitments and suspended them,” and announced Iran’s suspension of its own commitments under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding.

President Trump, in a Fox News interview on Tuesday, stated, “I don’t want to negotiate now. They want to make a deal, but every time they make a deal, they break it.”
