Prominent House Democrats appeared caught off guard on Saturday, July 18th, 2026, when questioned about the Democratic Socialists of America’s (DSA) newly announced platform, "Workers Deserve More," which calls for abolishing the Senate, the presidency, and the Supreme Court in favor of a parliamentary system.

The DSA’s revised platform proposes replacing the president and Supreme Court with an executive branch and judiciary elected by and subordinate to Congress, alongside establishing a unicameral, proportional legislature that would eliminate the Senate entirely.

The organization has also advocated for abolishing ICE since 2018 and supports major immigration reforms including an immediate end to all deportations, extending full voting rights to people with criminal convictions and noncitizens, and easing restrictions on immigration controls.

When asked about the agenda, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) declined to comment, stating, "I'm not a member of the DSA, so I can't comment on any documents that they put out." Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) also responded when questioned about the new agenda, though specific remarks were not detailed.

Some Democrats expressed concern about the influence of far-left, socialist candidates complicating the broader Democratic Party’s agenda. Meanwhile, Aguilar said, "I look forward to working with all our colleagues who run as Democrats."

Candidates aligned with the DSA are expected to accept and promote the organization’s program and align their campaign platforms accordingly.
