An Alabama mother, Sierra Shay Hadaway, 22, has been charged with murder after her 2-year-old daughter, Madilynn Hadaway, was found dead on June 12 in Lanett, Alabama. According to the Chambers County Sheriff's Office, Madilynn was discovered face-down on a bed for more than 12 hours with her arms, legs, and ankles bound, leading to her suffocation.
The investigation concluded this week, resulting in Hadaway's arrest, authorities announced on Thursday, July 17, 2026. A second suspect in the case, Christian Myles Sturkie, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on June 14.
An obituary described Madilynn as a child who enjoyed playing with dolls, getting dirty in the yard, and living wild and free. It noted she had a special way of bringing joy to those around her and taught the purest meaning of love.
Sierra Hadaway is currently held at the Chambers County Detention Facility without bond.
