Vance attributed the rise in socialism among youth to policies involving offshoring businesses, outsourcing jobs, and low-wage immigration, both legal and illegal.

Podcaster Joe Rogan expressed concern over the increasing influence of democratic socialists in politics, stating, "Those f---ing people scare me." Vance responded by referencing his book, Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith, where he discusses a Christian political economy model that balances free markets and socialism, a norm lost in recent American politics.

Vance emphasized that while many Republicans recognize socialism as problematic, they often fail to understand the economic conditions driving young people toward it. He said, "So I think that unless you go down that pathway of allowing young Americans to own something, socialism is the inevitable outcome."

He acknowledged the challenge ahead, stating, "Again, I think that we're going in the right direction. Maybe people disagree, but it's going to take years to fix this problem. And if we don't, we are going to end up with a socialist president in this country."

Vance also noted that the current economic crisis cannot be solely blamed on the previous Democratic administration, citing 40 years of bad policy that left the country in a difficult position. He illustrated this with an example from San Diego, where a neighborhood once accessible to military families is now unaffordable even for Marine officers.

His remarks come in the wake of several socialist candidates defeating Democratic incumbents in recent primary elections.
