JJ Watt publicly criticized Major League Soccer team Real Salt Lake for a social media post that failed to mention his wife, Kealia Ohai Watt, a former member of the U.S. Women's National Team (USWNT) and a notable local soccer figure.

The couple attended a Real Salt Lake game against Burnley F.C., a club in which they hold partial ownership. The team welcomed them with a post on X (formerly Twitter), but the post highlighted JJ Watt without acknowledging Kealia's significant soccer achievements.

Kealia Ohai Watt grew up near the stadium, attending Alta High School in Sandy, Utah. She won four Utah state championships with her youth soccer club, was twice named Gatorade Player of the Year, earned National Player of the Year honors, and scored the fastest first goal in USWNT history. After college, she was the second overall pick in the NWSL College Draft by the Houston Dash, serving as captain from 2016 until her trade to the Chicago Red Stars in 2020.

In response to the omission, JJ Watt wrote, "The woman in the photo grew up literally down the road, won 4 Utah state championships (1 in this exact stadium), Gatorade Player of the Year twice, National Player of the Year, scored the fastest first goal in USWNT history… Could probably be worth a mention, but idk."

Watt expressed displeasure that his wife, a local soccer legend, was dismissed in the team's social media acknowledgment.
