Late-night host Jimmy Fallon took aim at former President Joe Biden on Wednesday, July 16, 2026, during an episode of "The Tonight Show" following Biden’s announcement that he would release a memoir in November.

Biden’s memoir, titled "Promise Me, America," is set to be published on November 17, about two weeks after the midterm elections. The book will chronicle his presidency and reveal the "deeply agonizing calculation" behind his decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race, according to a press release.

During his monologue, Fallon showed a picture of the book’s cover and joked, "The book was written by a ghost writer, Joe Biden." He added, "It’s the second book Biden has written," and quipped that the memoir was about what Biden remembered from his presidency, "So it's three pages."

Fallon also brought former Vice President Kamala Harris into the bit, joking that she wrote the end of the memoir.

Biden described the memoir as addressing the challenges faced by the nation and explaining his decisions on leading the country through COVID-19, rebuilding the economy, restoring democracy after the January 6 attack, ending the war in Afghanistan, strengthening NATO, and supporting Ukraine.

Separately, Lindy Li, a former top Democratic fundraiser, commented that Biden was doing himself a disservice by promising the public another explanation for his 2024 re-election bid amid concerns about his age and cognitive performance.
