Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) has publicly called for more information regarding Senator Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) extended absence from the Senate. McConnell has been absent since his hospitalization on June 14, with his medical condition previously undisclosed.

In a social media post, McConnell stated he would not return to the Senate floor immediately due to doctors' orders but promised to "finish the job" before his retirement at the end of his term.

Tuberville told Fox News Digital, "Somebody needs to do something," emphasizing the need for clarity on McConnell’s recovery timeline before the Senate begins its August recess. He noted the importance of McConnell’s presence as the Senate prepares for key votes on President Donald Trump's legislative agenda.

Conversely, Senator John Kennedy (R-La.) urged the public to "leave Mitch alone" amid ongoing questions about McConnell’s health, remarking, "I think he had a fall, and Mitch is not 29 anymore."

Kennedy also dismissed rumors about McConnell’s condition, stating, "I don't believe all these stories that he's brain dead and all of that. People need to get a life."

Despite the calls for information, some senators reported receiving no updates during recent meetings. Tuberville expressed well-wishes for McConnell’s recovery but stressed the need for transparency before the Senate recess starting in August, when senators return to their home states.
