President Donald Trump did not sign the bill, allowing it to become law without his approval after withholding his signature for more than two weeks. Trump has referred to the affordability crisis as a "hoax" and described the legislation as "minor." Despite this, nearly 90% of voters support the law, which also holds private equity firms accountable for home purchases for the first time.

Senator Elizabeth Warren played a key leadership role in the bill's passage, emphasizing the need for continued congressional action to support families facing housing challenges. The bill's passage marks a rare bipartisan achievement in Congress, occurring "with or without Trump's help."

Additional proposals include capping credit card interest rates at 10%, a measure President Trump had promised earlier in the year.
