Bangladesh has announced plans to build a 108-kilometer fence along its border with Myanmar as part of efforts to address security concerns stemming from increased instability in Myanmar's Rakhine state. The border between the two countries stretches approximately 271 kilometers, and the fencing project aims to combat transnational crime that has escalated due to the volatile situation in the neighboring region.

Officials in Dhaka have cited the deteriorating conditions in Rakhine as a primary reason for the decision. The border area near Maungdaw in Myanmar, where a border guard force camp and existing fences were documented in 2014, highlights the longstanding security challenges in the region.
