The local AI initiative aims to protect Taiwan's language and cultural identity by countering the predominance of mainland Chinese language and perspectives that are prevalent in global AI models.

TAIDE is being developed using local data and built on open-source foundations, distinguishing it from other AI systems that tend to reflect mainland Chinese content. This effort reflects Taiwan's strategic move to assert digital autonomy and preserve its unique cultural landscape.
