Trump ally Laura Loomer claimed the Washington Post front page appeared AI-generated due to blurry text, while former Fox News producer Kylie Kremer argued the newspaper was too unclear to verify the publication date and said only an unedited video would be convincing.

A review found no evidence that the photograph had appeared online before McConnell published it, nor any indication it was AI-generated. The Washington Post reported that it examined the original image supplied by McConnell's office and confirmed its metadata showed it was taken on Sunday, July 13th, 2026.
