FamilyAlbum, a photo and video sharing app developed in Japan primarily for family members, has announced plans to aggressively expand its user base and service offerings in overseas markets. The app, which allows parents to easily share photos of their children with relatives, has surpassed 30 million cumulative users. Alongside sharing features, FamilyAlbum also provides photo printing and photo book creation services.

The expansion comes as Japan faces a declining birthrate, prompting the developer to target growth in local languages abroad. The app is operated by Mixi and is headquartered in Tokyo.

While the app currently has over 30 million users, reports indicate ambitions to reach 100 million users globally.
