North Queensland police have arrested eight people following two shooting incidents in Mackay earlier this month. Four individuals have been charged after an investigation into two property shootings last week.

On July 8, four people allegedly drove to a licensed venue in Andergrove and fired shots at an unoccupied vehicle just after 2 a.m. The occupants of the nearby residence were not physically injured, according to police.

Subsequently, a 23-year-old man from Bucasia was charged with possessing and discharging a firearm. After a search of a North Mackay address, a 31-year-old man was charged with gun trafficking.

Last week, police also charged three men and a woman with possession of illegal weapons following a search of a Beaconsfield property on July 9.

In total, two of the eight charged individuals face unlawful weapon trafficking charges. The alleged offenders are expected to appear before Mackay Magistrates Court in the coming months.
