Bryson DeChambeau, once a rising star in golf after winning the 2024 U.S. Open with a remarkable bunker shot on the 72nd hole to outplay Rory McIlroy, has experienced mixed results in major tournaments since his victory.

In 2025, DeChambeau finished tied for 5th at The Masters and tied for 2nd at the PGA Championship but missed the cut at the U.S. Open at Oakmont. He later rebounded with a tied 10th place at The Open held at Royal Portrush. However, his 2026 performances have been described as embarrassing by some commentators.

Golf legend Nick Faldo criticized DeChambeau's strategic approach, stating, "I'd say it to his face — DeChambeau has zero clue of strategy," and expressed doubt about his success on links-style courses like Royal Birkdale.
