Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) president, CEO, and chief counsel Kristen Waggoner spoke with Fox News Digital following her law firm’s historic Supreme Court victory aimed at protecting women's sports. The ruling, described as a win in the battle to "save women's sports," sets a precedent for future cases, including ongoing lawsuits targeting 23 states that have not enacted protections under Title IX.

Waggoner discussed the challenges faced over the past decade in addressing gender identity issues in sports, noting a cultural shift alongside legal progress. She highlighted that "eight of 10 Americans support the right of women to have fair play," and emphasized the harm caused by blurring distinctions between males and females in athletics.

She cited the experience of their client Adelaide Cross, who reported receiving inappropriate comments and threats when boys entered girls' private spaces such as locker rooms. Waggoner stated, "Every time a boy takes a spot on a team, he takes that spot from a girl, and that's wrong."

The Supreme Court has acknowledged the limited number of athletic opportunities available to female athletes, recognizing the issue as a "zero-sum game." Waggoner expressed confidence that the Court’s decision lays groundwork for future victories in states like Minnesota, where legal battles continue.

Acknowledging the difficulty of the fight, Waggoner said, "We're used to tough, hard stances and going uphill. Sometimes we even say we win by losing. You might lose in the lower courts, but you keep going until you win the day, and we will do that in Minnesota."

She also stressed that winning this issue requires efforts beyond the courtroom, stating, "This isn't just something that it can be won in the courtroom. It has to be won in the culture as well, and the two go hand in hand, so all of us have a role to play."

Waggoner condemned a recent case where a state implied consent for a girl being wrestled by a boy, calling it "especially egregious" and pledging to continue fighting until justice is achieved.
