Two men from Tampa, Florida, Jay El Wilburn, 47, and Alvaughn Parker, 27, have been indicted on several federal charges related to an armed home invasion, the Justice Department announced on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

According to federal prosecutors, Wilburn disguised himself as a utility worker, wearing a hard hat and reflective vest, to gain entry into a Tampa apartment occupied by a man, a woman, and a 13-year-old boy. Once inside, Wilburn brandished a Taurus PT58S .380-caliber pistol, grabbed the woman by the back of her neck, and pressed the gun to her stomach.

The suspects robbed the family at gunpoint, zip-tying the victims including the 13-year-old boy. They stole approximately $15,000 in cash, controlled substances, three firearms, about two ounces of marijuana, and jewelry taken from one of the victims before fleeing the scene.

Wilburn and Parker face federal charges including conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery—a law that prohibits robberies affecting interstate commerce—robbery, use of a firearm during a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident following the robbery.
