Writer E. Jean Carroll has collected more than US$5.6 million awarded by a jury in her sexual abuse and defamation lawsuit against former US President Donald Trump, according to court records and her legal team.

The payment, which includes the US$5 million jury award plus interest, was released on Monday, July 14th, 2026, from an escrow account where it had been held since the 2023 verdict. Trump had deposited the funds shortly after the jury ruling against him.

Carroll’s attorney, Roberta Kaplan, confirmed the payment on Tuesday, stating, “We are pleased to report that she has received the damages payment.”

The US Supreme Court recently allowed the civil verdict to stand, enabling Judge Lewis A. to proceed with the payment. Attempts by Trump’s lawyers to obtain an emergency order to block the payment were denied without conditions on how Carroll may use the funds.

According to court papers, Carroll plans to place the money in a retirement account.
