Israel has shared intelligence with the United States this week regarding a new and "specific" plan by Iran to assassinate former President Donald Trump, according to US media reports on July 9, 2026.

The intelligence warning, described as a "fresh" plot by the Wall Street Journal and a "specific" plan by CNN citing unnamed sources, comes amid renewed US and Iranian attacks that have raised fears of a return to all-out war. Tehran has long vowed retaliation against Trump for ordering the assassination of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in January 2020.

Trump himself acknowledged the threat, telling reporters aboard Air Force One after a NATO summit in Turkey, "I saw this morning I'm on every single one of their lists. They want to take out the US leader - me."

Notably, Trump departed Turkey on his old Air Force One plane instead of his new Qatari-gifted jet, which was sent ahead to Britain. This switch sparked speculation about security concerns, especially as the US launched fresh strikes against Iran, a neighbor of Turkey. The New York Times reported that the US Secret Service requested the plane change "as a security precaution."

When contacted about the reports, a White House official referred to Trump's own remarks.
