Hong Kong police arrested 13 individuals in a three-day crackdown on drink- and drug-driving coinciding with the World Cup. The operation, named “Quickchaser,” was conducted by the Traffic Kowloon East enforcement and control division from July 3 to 5 on major roads in the area. Those arrested included 10 men, a 17-year-old boy, and two women, aged between 17 and 62.

The suspects face charges including trafficking in dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and driving while disqualified or without third-party insurance. Preliminary investigations revealed a case where a 51-year-old taxi driver allegedly collaborated with a 17-year-old passenger to transport suspected drugs by cab to evade detection.

Authorities seized suspected cocaine, etomidate, and ketamine with an estimated street value of HK$40,000 (US$5,099) in three drug-related cases. All suspects have been released on bail and are scheduled to report to police next month, except for three individuals arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.
