Approximately 400 sites managed by the National Park Service are currently facing a maintenance backlog estimated at over $24 billion. However, funds intended for these repairs are being diverted. According to a report by The Washington Post, the Trump administration has redirected at least $90 million from national park entry fees to finance beautification efforts in Washington D.C. ahead of the America 250 celebration. This diversion of funds raises concerns about the prioritization of national park maintenance needs.
