President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet on Wednesday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa during his trip to Turkey for the annual NATO summit. Trump will depart for Ankara on Monday evening for the two-day event, according to a senior White House official.

The president's agenda includes bilateral meetings with Zelensky and al-Sharaa, followed by a press conference before returning to Washington. Trump recently met Zelensky less than three weeks ago at a Group of Seven (G7) meeting in France, where he urged Russia to "make a deal" to end its war in Ukraine, citing mounting casualties.

On July 4, the two leaders spoke by phone, with Zelensky congratulating Trump and all Americans on the United States' 250th birthday. Zelensky also wrote on social platform X that he and Trump discussed the frontline situation and diplomatic efforts, expressing optimism about ending the war and highlighting America's decisive resolve. The leaders agreed to continue discussions during the NATO summit.

Last week, Russian military strikes on Kyiv resulted in 21 deaths and nearly 100 injuries, according to Zelensky. A conversation between Trump and a longtime aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Yuri Ushakov, lasted one hour and 25 minutes and was described as "highly constructive." Trump confirmed his readiness to facilitate the earliest possible cessation of hostilities and pursue peaceful solutions to the crisis.
