The United Firefighters Union and its secretary, Peter Marshall, have lost a Supreme Court bid to prevent the publication of a report by Victoria's Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC). The report concerns Operation Richmond, an investigation into allegations of misconduct during the 2016 enterprise bargaining agreement dispute involving the union, the Country Fire Authority, and the Victorian government.
IBAC's probe began in 2018 and concluded in 2022, but the report's public release has been delayed pending the court case. The investigation reportedly included interviews with former Victorian premier Daniel Andrews and senior ministers, though witnesses cannot confirm or deny their participation under IBAC's laws.
On July 3, 2026, Justice Claire Harris dismissed the union and Peter Marshall's arguments for a judicial review, allowing the report to be released once the legal process concludes.
