United States President Donald Trump has confirmed that the Republican Party will hold a midterm convention in Dallas, Texas, a months-old idea now coming to fruition. Trump announced on Truth Social, “For the first time ever, the Republican Party will hold a MIDTERM CONVENTION. It has never been done before, and will be a truly Historic Event.”

The rally is intended to highlight Republican achievements since the 2024 Presidential Election and is scheduled less than five months before the midterm elections on November 3. Trump emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “It will be a RALLY like none other! America’s 250th Birthday is approaching, and together, we are building the foundation for the NEXT 250 YEARS of American Greatness.”

The concept of a midterm convention has been discussed among officials since at least September 2025. While the Republican Party has revived this idea for 2026, the Democratic National Committee considered but ultimately decided against holding a similar event this year. Historically, the Democratic Party held such gatherings until 1982 but discontinued them due to concerns over resource allocation.

The upcoming convention in Dallas is expected to be a significant moment for the Republican Party as it seeks to retain control of both chambers of Congress in the November midterm elections.
