Emergency services responded to a fire at a tobacco store on Bridge Road in Richmond, Melbourne, around 3:30 a.m. on June 30, 2026. The ground floor of the shop was found engulfed in flames. A search confirmed no one was inside the tobacco shop at the time, but three people were evacuated from a neighboring building.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control by approximately 4:27 a.m., though crews remained on the scene afterward. Victoria Police are treating the fire as suspicious and continue to investigate its cause.
As a result of the incident, Yarra Trams suspended services on Wednesday morning, and Bridge Road was closed in both directions between Church Street and Lennox Street.
This fire marks the second suspicious blaze in the area within days, following a suspected ram raid and arson at a shop in Mentone on Tuesday morning.
