EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., June 30 – Kylian Mbappe scored two goals as France defeated Sweden 3-0 in the World Cup round of 32, preserving their flawless record of four wins from four matches. This victory advances France to the last 16, where they will face Paraguay.
Mbappe opened the scoring in the 45th minute with a fierce shot after cutting in from the left. Early in the second half, Michael Olise assisted Bradley Barcola, who doubled France’s lead with a precise shot into the top corner. Mbappe sealed the win in the 74th minute by outrunning the offside trap and curling a first-time effort past the goalkeeper.
This match marked Mbappe’s 18th goal in 18 World Cup appearances, including a record 10 goals in knockout games.
