At the WWE Night of Champions event held on June 27, 2026, at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Sami Zayn pulled off a surprising victory to capture the Undisputed WWE Championship. In a triple-threat match against defending champion Cody Rhodes and Gunther, Rhodes executed the Cross Rhodes move on Zayn and tossed Gunther out of the ring. However, Zayn slipped out of a subsequent Cross Rhodes attempt and rolled Rhodes up for the three-count, securing the championship. WWE broadcaster Michael Cole described the pin as a "miracle."
Zayn, visibly emotional, reflected on his journey, saying, "A lot has been said about me – some good and lately, some bad. A lot of folks said I would never win the WWE championship."
Earlier in the night, Nigerian wrestler Oba Femi defeated Jey Uso in the King of the Ring final, also held at Kingdom Arena. The victory grants Femi a title shot of his choosing at the upcoming SummerSlam event in August. Femi battled Uso throughout the match, who was aiming to face the undisputed WWE champion and bring another world title back to The Bloodline faction.
In his post-match promo, Femi stated, "It feels so good to go from ‘The Ruler’ to being the king."
Uso responded to the defeat by saying, "Jey Uso did not understand what he was up against tonight. He thought he was just fighting one man. You might be able to beat one man but you can’t beat fate and you can’t beat destiny and most importantly, you can’t beat me."
Both victories marked significant moments at the Night of Champions, with the pro wrestling community celebrating Zayn's first WWE world championship and Femi's rise as King of the Ring.
