Another powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 was detected off the coast of Venezuela on June 27, 2026. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that the quake occurred at 3:20pm local time (19:20 GMT) near northern Aragua state, approximately 70 kilometers (43.4 miles) west of the capital, Caracas.
This event follows a series of seismic activities, including twin magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes that struck Venezuela on the preceding Wednesday. These larger quakes have resulted in at least 1,430 confirmed deaths, with rescuers continuing to search for possible survivors amid reports of several aftershocks and smaller tremors.
The recent 4.8 magnitude quake adds to the ongoing challenges faced by emergency responders in the region.
